Outreach

I am dedicated to providing learning opportunities for students and communities interested in environmental stewardship. Below are a few examples of my involvement.

Natural Resources Conservation Academy

nrca.uconn.edu

The NRCA program is designed to engage high school students in natural resource conservation initiatives in their home communities. Since the beginning, I have served as a mentor during the one-week residential field experiences and then follow-up with the students and their community partners to help them design, complete, and present a service-learning project. I have acted as a community partner for a number of students interested in forest ecology and invasive species related projects.

Defenders of Wildlife Intern Program

Skype A Scientist

Skype a Scientist is a nonprofit educational organization based in Willimantic, Connecticut that enables scientists to video conference with students in classrooms. It began as an informal program in 2017, founded by Sarah McAnulty while she was a graduate student at the University of Connecticut.

W.I.S.E. (Women Inspiring Successful Enterprise)

The mission of the program is to develop female emerging leaders and empower them to advance professionally.  Through a competitive internship opportunity and guided reflections, trainings, and collaborative projects, women will be prepared to hold professional positions at the highest levels.

Join our GIS team for a regular installation of #MapMonday videos walking you through some of the ways in which maps and spatial data are making an impact on wildlife conservation.
